Hello,

video uploads are going well.
Please do not do multiple uploads of the same video. It is an useless
excercise Smile

We had word from One Little Indian regarding the switching of the date
of submission to 10th of June.

Here it is:

Dear MWC
I am very sorry that some people have been upset and frustrated that
the video delivery date for the "Innocence" single video competition
was moved forward, and I think that we should let people know that it
was my fault - and not Björk's.

I did not mean to be disrespectful to any of the entrants - and I
wanted to let them know why the change occurred.

We had intended to shoot a video for "Declare Independence" with
Michele Gondry this week in London for the release of the single on
2nd July.

This all had to change because we were not prepared for how well the
Volta album has been performing.

The album entered the top ten in the charts all over the world, and
consequently the international promotion work has become so hectic,
that we had to use the time set aside for shooting the "Declare
Independence" video, to fulfill all the promo work that Björk needed
to do - and we had to reschedule the video shoot for august.

I suggested to bjork that we move the "Innocence" single release
forward into the original "Declare Independence" slot on 2nd July -
and she agreed that I could approach all the video competition
entrants, to see if they could deliver their work 2/3 weeks earlier
than anticipated

I did not mean to be disrespectful to the creative process - but was
hoping that people could submit their works in progress, to enable us
to speed up the selection process.

People should send in whatrever they have prepared at this stage -
even if it is only storyboards etc - who knows what Björk will be
inspired by !.

Please pass on my apologies to everyone involved.

I think it's very important to remark the lines: "People should send in hatrever they have prepared at this stage - even if it is only storyboards etc - who knows what Björk will be inspired by !. ", competition doesn't ask for complete or ended videos, it's annoying but I think it's important to have Innocence as a second single

I wonder if this means that whoever was to do remixes for Inncoence are also scrambling to get their stuff done for the new deadline...

Uh oh....all that prep for the DI shoot gone to waste as it was postponed. Wheres all the people/companies involved in that shoot complaining about money and time being wasted here on the 4um and demanding change?!?!?!111

By all accounts Derek Birkett is an incredibly nice guy, a pleasure to work with, and an admirable man. His emails to me about the hub were gracious and open-minded.

I am not surprised that he took the high road and wrote that kind of letter.

what i don't get though is how on earth will they prepare a proper promo vid for this supposed july 2nd release when he even specified that the applicants need only submit an idea? how would they review the contestants, pick a winner, arrange a meeting, make the real video, and have all other single materials (artwork, mixes, pressing) by july 2nd?

Apparently yes... from what Derek Birkett is saying...and this also means that they will choose the winner next week for sure.

well.

Bjork in june is in Venice most of the time (today an exhibition of Barney's and Beuys's work started at the Peggy Guggenheim's in Venice, and she is reported to be there since a week or so - apart from Jools Holland registration).

Maybe she's just tired and is taking a break.

The video will be released on July 2nd. They can do it. It will take a day or two to fully flesh out the idea. A week to get people involved. A video shoot takes only 3 to 4 days, the crafting of the video takes 3 days. So it will be 3 weeks to choose a video and make this video? And three weeks from June 10th is July 1st. She is highly capable of releasing the video on iTunes on July 2nd.

Yes it appears so and Declare Independence will come later...
No matter, we'll get them both...

What I'm more worried about is if they WILL be released as 3-part Singles AND have some REALLY GOOD remixes. I mean think of the remixpotential for Innocence!!! Come on B, choose some new and fresh remixers so we'll forgive you for the lousy EI remixes...

No , like I said, they NEED to choose the winner next week, right after june 10th and then they will have 2 weeks to calmly make the proper video from the idea of the winner one. And as for the remixes etc I'm sure they are already done and yes...PLEASE!!!!!!!! NO MORE "ONLY" DIGITAL RELEASES !!!!!!!!!! dizzy

Anyway if the single is out on the second of july that means Bjork will still be in Poland as she's performing in Gdynia on the 1st Very Happy
